A big family is not only about sharing the same home, but about sharing kindness and support, so without any hesitation, I can say that GIO is not just an organisation but a big family. A family where everyone has a similar way of thinking and every single person is on a journey to learn something new.
It all started when my grandmother, who is a member of the jamad, sent me a message showing a picture of a residential camp, and little did I know that this simple message would open the door to a beautiful and unforgettable chapter in my life. At first, I was hesitant to go, but my grandmother gently convinced me to attend the camp. I entered the gates of the Goodword School along with my aunt, not knowing what to expect. We both were both nervous and excited at the same time.
I never thought that I would get along with everyone so quickly, but by the evening of the very first day, I felt as if I had known them for years. We were all on the same journey, and we all thought alike. The unfamiliar place, so far away from home, slowly began to feel comforting, warm, and welcoming. During the camp, I made countless memories, learned new lessons and skills, and formed friendships that I will always cherish.
Soon, I started attending the weekly GIO classes at the masjid. One day, I got a message from the GIO group about a mission to write an article. It was called the 100 Mission Article, and I was instantly attracted to it. I have always had a passion for writing, and I have written a few articles, butI never got a chance to share them. As soon as I saw the message, I knew that this would be the start of something new and something beautiful. And I was right! It was the start of something new and beautiful. I wrote an article, and it was published on Radiance News. The joy I experienced seeing my article on a website was immeasurable.
It was during the camp that I met a very kind-hearted person, Atoofa Nasiha. She was kind to all the girls in the camp and was an amazing leader. After my article was published, I wanted to enquire about how to become a member of GIO, so I contacted her. I shared my hesitation with her, worried about whether I could truly fulfil my responsibilities in GIO while managing the important year of 10th grade. She gently reassured me by sharing her own journey, explaining how joining GIO during her studies was one of the best decisions she ever made. Her words felt sincere and comforting, changing my fear into confidence. Alhamdulillah, soon after the call, I became a part of the GIO writers team.
GIO is no longer just an organisation to me, it is a family, a learning space, and a source of inspiration. I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this journey so meaningful. I look forward to continuing this path with gratitude and hope. #MyGIOJourney
