Learning Confidence from Khadijah (RA)

The familiar name Khadija (RA), known as Al-Tahira (the Pure). Khadija (RA) is the first woman who accepted Islam. The woman who stood beside her husband, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and her family with courage, love, and patience. Despite the pre-Islamic era's trials and beliefs, she stood firm, confident yet compassionate.

She is one of the perfect examples of feminism, not because she was confident or a successful businesswoman, but because she respected the right values, set boundaries, and gave importance to her career. Giving importance to a career was not encouraged during that era. At the same time, she nurtured her family with her warmth, love, care, and security, which eventually led to a family with harmony. And a cohesive society is fostered by such a family.

Khadija (RA) balanced her life with understanding her rights, along with compassion and warmth.

She supported her husband, our beloved Prophet (SAW), during his tough times. She became his strength. She trusted him when nobody did and stood along with him. She was the first woman who believed in him. Our beloved Prophet (SAW) says:

“She believed in me when the whole world refuted me, and attested to my veracity when the whole world accused me of falsehood. She offered me compassion and loyalty with her wealth when everyone else had forsaken me.”

This explains the essence of Khadija (RA) in his life. Hazrat Khadija (RA) held a distinctive position among the wives of the Holy Prophet (SAW).

Khadija (RA) was independent and is a renowned feminist, not because she had a successful career or was confident, but I believe she is a feminist because of the balance she maintained. Despite coming from a pre-Islamic era where haram was normalised and stereotypes were the priority, she embraced what was right.
