When I think of sisterhood, I don't think it is just simply having someone beside me. I see it as having someone who walks alongside me—through the laughter, the struggles, the mistakes, and the journey towards Allah (SWT).
We are sisters with different personalities and different mindsets, different talents and different interests. When one likes socializing the other likes being silent, when one likes going out the other likes being home, when one gives cool vibes the other gives responsible vibes, when one likes reading the other likes listening - many different ideas and many ways!
But yeah, we share!
Not just childhood and not just family,
Not just home and not just room.
We share much more than that.
We are the same people who fight over small and big things and within a few minutes sit and chat like nothing ever happened.
We are the same people who know what will cause annoyance and know what will make feel comfortable. We irritate each other like no one else by asking silly helps & nagging each other and at the same time we are great comforts for each other.
Sisters are indeed one of the greatest blessings of our life, they not just stand beside us, but they also support, encourage, motivate and inspire us.
My sisters are my biggest support!
Supporting me in every small and big situation, in times of difficulties and struggles. When I feel demotivated or when I tend to give up, they stand along with me to encourage and motivate me to make me try and rise towards goodness. They inspire me not just through their words but even through their actions. Seeing my sisters making notes, taking classes, and reciting the Qur'an inspired me a lot. When they get for Salah i feel doing the same, when they do something beneficial i wish to copy the same.
As Prophet (SAW) has said:
“A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other.”
The times when I get out of the tract, they correct me and show me the way, for real - I always felt so annoyed and irritated but now I realise that all of that was for my betterment.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The believer is the mirror of another believer.”
In this way my sisters are my guiding light. Just like how stars guide the people who travel in the sea, my sisters are one of those who guide me.
And of course, there is something special about late night talks with sisters. The time when everyone has gone to sleep and it's dark outside, after a long tiring day and with exhaustion when we come to bed - there starts a small conversation “You know what happened today”. “You remember that day...!” “How about we do this...” to tease each other with our old memories. We start sharing our secrets that we usually don't feel comfortable saying to others as we think our sisters relate with us and who could listen to us without judging and who could guide us. Not just this, there are moments of little fight but the next moment we laugh until our stomach hurts. We also hear our parents asking, “Haven't you all slept yet?” we get quiet for a while and start whispering again. These are not just conversations but memories that we would cherish forever. Within few days we forget what we spoke about but remember the moments of memories and bonds.
Allah says in the Qur’an: (9:71)
“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong”
So, we as believers, we are companions of each other, and we enjoin in what is right and try to protect each other from doing what is wrong.
May Allah always keep the bond between sisters strong, fill our hearts with love and mercy for one another, and bless us to remain together in this life and reunite in Jannah, Ameen.
